we should all breastfeed if we can, it's best for baby -NATURE KNOWS BEST
we should all have natural birth if we can, it's best for baby -NATURE KNOWS BEST
we should all follow our instincts and nuture our children- NATURE KNOWS BEST
when pregnant our bodies do amazing things- NATURE KNOWS BEST
when we miscarry everyone says to you 'it's natures way' NATURE KNOWS BEST
and yet when it comes to circumcision we decide we know best, why are we contradicting ourselves so much, don't do it NATURE KNOWS BEST.Why the circumcision contradiction? please think about this before you rant on..?
Circumcision is done for cultural reasons and goes back historically to biblical times. It is not necessary at all. There are many myths associated with having a baby circumcised such as it prevents infections etc. I have known several babies to have botched circumcisions and one who contracted MRSA staph infection from having it done. It is done for cultural reasons and is no longer recommended by pediatricians. This is why most insurances will not pay for it, it is purely done as a cosmetic surgery and is not medically necessary. Children can be taught to clean there penises correctly just like they can be taught to brush their teeth and wipe their bottoms. The foreskin is not necessary anymore seeing as we don't run around naked (it is there for protection, like a little hat), but it does not need to be removed. It is purely cosmetic and cultural. Not natural. Why the circumcision contradiction? please think about this before you rant on..?
ANYone pulling the foreskin back EVER besides the child is what often leads to these infections. NOBODY shousl touch teh foreskin but the child themselves, it is not abnormal for it not to retract until puberty.
You aren't supposed to pull the foreskin back to clean in there until the child is a few years old. Just keep it clean the way it is. Pulling the foreskin back can allow stuff to get in there to cause an infection.
To the person above me (poudarmywife610), unless your friends son was over the age of 5 she shouldn't have been pulling his foreskin back at all, and if she was, then that could have contributed to the infection.
None of the my nephews are circumcised (my brother in law's family is not either) and none of mine will be. That's all I am gonna say on it. I am not gonna get into the huge arguing that goes on here. I just don't have the patience for it.
Edit:
Jennifer below me, THANK YOU. You hit it right on the head.
Circumcizion is MUCH less common nowadays. The USA is the last Western nation doing it routinely, yet nationwide the rates are down to approximately 56% circumcized.
we dont all say that about miscarries
good luck telling a woman that just miscarried that nature knows best, Im sure that will ease her sorrow, then want to punch you in the face
Everything Zyggy and Jennifer said I absolutely agree with. My son is not circumcised, and neither is his father, my father,or anyone else in his family.
To the people that say it is disgusting and dirty maybe you need to close your legs and stop sleeping with people that don't know how to keep themselves clean. I have never found any problem with my husband.
NEVER force the foreskin back up to 5% of uncircumsized males foreskin dosent retract until age 10,although it is usually between the ages of 1-5.
For the people who said your pedi. recomended you do it did they also tell you that, sensitivity is greatly reduced, and there is a chance of lossing ALL sensation of the penis.Try explaining that to your 18 yr. old.
It is only a contradiction to the extent that you have asked the question the way you did.
100 years ago, people died of many things that today we cure easily with antibiotics. Before then, it was ';Nature knows best.';
Should we not have sought to ';contradict'; ourselves?
Circumcision, in the Jewish faith, is a symbolic ritual. Other cultures have rituals in which the body is altered. These are usually performed to demonstrate some allegiance to or acceptance of a given higher power.
Circumcision was not originally a ';we know better than Nature'; propositon.
Over the last few decades, we have generally been going back to nature, deciding nature knows best. Breast feeding was not popular when I was born but is much more popular now. More women are having 'natural' childbirth because the advantages have been proven. I don't know about miscarriages, I don't think anyone thinks they're -good-, but maybe it helps to think of them as God's will.
And as for circumcision, it's getting less popular as time goes on, even for Jewish people. So there's no contradiction there. There are still some mothers who don't want to breast feed, or who want to be knocked out during childbirth, and still some parents who want their little by circumcized.
Exactly.
Doesn't it seem a little strange that all males would be born with a need for corrective surgery?
It would be a wonderful world if people would read the research and learn the facts before cutting parts off their son for the sake of ';fitting in'; or ';preventing infection.'; Heck, with the infection prevention logic, you might as well go ahead and remove the tonsils at birth too. Oh, and what about those poor kids who get ear infections? Down with ears! And that appendix is just an accident waiting to happen! Better cut that out too. What about little girls who will eventually grow up to be women who could potentially get yeast infections? Surely there is a surgery to prevent that!
The real facts are out there folks, you have access to them. Do the work before putting a blade on your son's most personal area.
If the nature knows best argument was always valid, we would never do any kind of surgery or give medicine. We would not immunize and just let nature take its course. If raising children was pure instinct we would always raise well adjusted children.
Our intellect is part of our nature.
I personally think non circumcized is the way to go.
Eh well I'm against circumcision and although I believe we have some medical advances yes it is quite clear that in most cases nature knows best definitely when it comes to what body parts we have. After a quick bit of reseach I realised circumcision was unnecessary and I was against it as a human rights violation; sexual experience with an intact man just confirmed this and the foreskin is important and clever and nature does know best.
Of course a lot of people who circumcise their sons aren't into nature knows best or think it's all god and that god asked them to remove a bit.
What I find funny is how people often do it and cite silly reasons like circumcised babies have a lower rate of UTIs, there are more convincing studies showing that breast-fed babies have lower rate of UTIs than formula-fed babies, but the parents ignore that evidence. Crazy.
i wholeheartedly agree with the great comment above that our intellect is part of our nature. so is medicine (and that wonderful invention, the epidural). i don't believe nature ';knows best'; in a miscarriage ... i believe that nature just misfired. i don't believe nature knows best when somebody gets cancer or altzheimers or diabetes or epilepsy. i don't believe that nature knows best when a baby is born premature and would die without medical intervention.
as for circumcision, it dramatically reduces the chance of acquiring HIV/AIDS. of course it doesn't completely bring that risk to none. whether it's ultimately worthwhile or not is up to the parents and hopefully additional research about risks v. benefits can add to that debate. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/357022鈥?/a>
whether nature ';knows best'; or not, it doesn't always give the best outcome for us as individuals. i don't see anything wrong with learning enough about nature to figure out how to make advancements improve health and our quality of life.
Then don't get your sons circumcised if you feel that strongly about it. After taking to 2 different pediatricians, and listening to my husband, I've devided to get my son circumcised.
*Oh, and I assume you dont believe in taking any pain medication, anti-biotics, etc... since ';Nature Knows Best'; I assume you dont believe in C-sections, even when it saves the baby's life, since ';Nature Knows Best';.
not sure if you're for it or against it... much easier to keep clean,,, overall i believe women are turned off by non-circumcised penises.....
As for what That guy said about circumcision being less popular by the Jews is wrong .
Circumcision is a sacred promise between man and G-d.
It is part of Jewish life.
I am all for it even if it is not a religious matter.
I don't say ';nature knows best' about anything.God controls everything, not some made up 'mother nature'.It is a parents choice to circumcise or not.No one else's business. If someone has a miscarriage,I believe god had a reason for that. That baby might have ended up with something wrong with it.Or he could've had some other reason.Honestly I just think you are trying to stir up trouble just like everyone else who asks these ridiculous circumcising questions..Just my 2 cents..
It's not against the law ya know. If I want to circumsize my son, than that's my business. Nobody elses. Once, you have a kid you can let them keep that ugly filthy uncircumsized penis. More power to you.
My girlfriend didn't get her son circumsized and he developed an infection from it. She couldn't pull the foreskin back far enough to clean in there. He was a year old and they had to get it done to prevent bigger problems. It was a lot harder of a procedure at that time also. He actually had to be put under and they did it with a knife/scalpull whatever rather than just the little scissors they normally use on infants. He had stitches and was on antibiotics and everything. Nature Knows Best sometimes, but other times you have to do what the dr.'s think is best.
because we are civilized beings not animals that live to natures way we drive cars use stoves and heater even have airplanes and go to other planets none of that's natures way
