So in short, I use to drink quite a bit in high school (had a great tolerance, usually about 8 to 10+ shots of rye without getting sick) but I had really bad acne and decided to go on Minocin.
While on minocin I had some rye once or twice and got really sick so I decided it would be best not to. I was on Minocin for about 9 months and then stopped because I was getting really bad stomach pains and bathroom problems that were occuring 2-3 times daily.
My main issue now that I am off the Minocin and my stomach has returned to a normal state, I still can't drink booze and was wondering if anyone knows why? It hasn't been a week, I've been of Minocin for more then 3 months and find myself getting the same side effects from drinking when I was on it such as: Shivers, puking, nausea, and all that fun other stuff. I am not even talking about 8 shots, I am talking maybe 2 to 2 1/2 and I am sick as a dog. All the problems usually come an hour after I drink aswell.
Any ideas?Minocin not allowing me to drink? (Sorry if its a rant)?
Dude, you should be glad. That was well on the way to becoming an alcoholic. Maybe you should go and get your liver enzymes tested. There could be something wrong there that could be making you sick. Drinking as you did, you could have had some type of disorder going on with your liver from all your drinking that the Minocin accerbated. I read the legend on Minocin, and I read nothing about side effects and drinking except if there was already a problem with your renal or hepatic function in the first place, Minocin could make the problems worse.Minocin not allowing me to drink? (Sorry if its a rant)?
Cool, I wonder if that is a known side effect. You may have made a great discovery. Maybe you should take this as a sign before you get sclerosis of the liver.
