What would happen if your only escape was a Standard car???? (my rant...So if your bored.......)?

My husband and I just bought a car its standard, He drives it all the time because I can't drive standard which means that I am usually stuck at home when he is at work because I can't drive it!!! Lately he has been trying to teach me how to drive. I can't seem to figure it out and I gave up because I really don't think that I am capable of doing all that stuff at once. Well to make a long story short. Today I was thinking about the new movie called the ruins and how at the end her only escape was driving a standard car. Now I don't know if this would ever happen to me but has anyone else ever thought about this..... Your only escape is a standard car....So your pretty much screwed because you don't know how to drive a standard car!!!!! Needless to say i am now determined to learn!! Sorry I bored you to tears!!! But hopefully I inspired someone!!! heheheeheheWhat would happen if your only escape was a Standard car???? (my rant...So if your bored.......)?
What is a standard car?....a stickshift you mean? If youre talking about a stickshift, then yeah, id be screwed. I would probably have to get out and run. What would happen if your only escape was a Standard car???? (my rant...So if your bored.......)?
What do you mean by standard car?
yes I learned how to drive a car in 8th grade
I can drive both....so no probs for me.

We have one of each, auto and manual, also my car has a tiptronic gearbox so will do both too.
If you mean a manual transmission, no problem. My first car was a VW Beetle with a manual transmission. I drove it for my last two years in high school. I've driven almost as many stick shifts as I have automatics.

Learning to use a clutch is EASY. Unless you're so uncoordinated you don't have walking around sense, you CAN learn.
Taught my daughter. 'go go' pedal 'stop go' pedal and 'no go' pedal. now she is in control of the steering wheel, she's 15 and really good
Thats the exact reason I learned how to drive a manual car when I first started driving...I didnt want to be stuck not knowing how to drive one if I ever needed to. I suggest you learn cause if you only have one car you may be screwed if you really need it. It will take some time (I didnt learn in a day or 2 either...more like a week or 2 lol) but keep practicing and you'll get it.
not sure what u mean by standard car but i think you mean a Manuel gear box. You should be scared of driving it because Manuel cars give you more control. when you are overtaking u can shift down a gear and get more revs ( acceleration) which is good
lol, I'd be pretty screwed!
By standard, she means it's a stick shift.

I can have you driving that car in one afternoon.
I used to sell cars about 15 years ago, and I can't count the number of people who I taught to drive a stick shift. In fact a few years ago I taught a lady friends son to drive his new 6 speed Camaro.
Standard car is another word for ';stick-shift'; or ';manual'; car, yes.

I used to drive all types of cars at work, so I can't relate. (From Hyundais to Maseratis';) And my car is a 5-speed.

BUT, if I didn't know how to drive standard, I'd probably ignore the car and RUN. lol

(BTW, your husbands situation is what I created at my home, no one can drive my car except for me!! bwuahahaha! [but there are other cars they can drive])
Been driving them since 14.Simple-Clutch in,1st gear,Release ..Repeat for 2,3,4,(5 if an option).Ask your beau if he has driven a 3 on the tree,or ever double -clucthed.Tell him someone told you that the old school way was down,up,down, and not to ride to long or you'll burn it out .(That's the 3-Reverse up,1 Down,2 Up,3 Down).
